Tomahawk River Information

Experience the Magic of the Northwoods at Tomahawk River, Wisconsin Tomahawk River is the largest tributary of the Wisconsin River. Throughout Wisconsin’s history, this waterway served as an important part of the north-south travel and trade route. The river flows through several lakes in Northern Wisconsin, including Lake Minocqua, and the Tomahawk River riverfront properties in Oneida County lie just west of Minocqua. Paddling the Tomahawk River The Tomahawk River is in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. This heavily forested region is a draw for nature lovers, as this is some of the most unique and beautiful wilderness in America. These woods have a mix of both broadleaf and conifer foliage, so you’ll see spruces and firs, as well as aspens, birches, and oaks, while exploring the river’s waters. One of the most scenic ways to take in the beauty of the area around your Tomahawk River riverfront property is by spending a few hours kayaking or canoeing down the river. The Tomahawk River Trail flows through a variety of landscapes through its nearly 12-mile journey. You’ll see woodland, marshland, meadows, and sandy banks. There are at least six different water trails to follow on the Tomahawk River, accommodating a variety of skill levels and desired trip lengths. The water trail from Willow Dam to Swamp Lake Road Access is mostly calm and is rated for novice kayakers/canoeists. Although some of the land lining the river is privately owned, much of the shoreline below Willow Dam is undeveloped. This means that this area preserves a quiet, natural setting where you are likely to see plenty of wildlife, especially several varieties of birds, from waterfowl to eagles. Enjoying Minocqua in Any Season One of Northern Wisconsin’s most treasured cities is Minocqua, which lies just east of your Oneida County Tomahawk River riverfront property. Since the city is almost completely surrounded by the waters of Minocqua Lake, it is sometimes called “The Island City.” This forested lake community provides a host of summer water-based activities, such as fishing, boating, swimming, and water skiing. The Min-Aqua Bats put on a water ski show that is a real treat. On land, visitors can enjoy hiking, bike riding, and berry picking. In the evening, live music can be found in local bars.  There is plenty to do in this area in the cooler months, as well. The fall brings rifle and bow hunters to the woods. And in the winter, you can participate in snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, sledding, and ice skating. Wintertime visitors love Minocqua Winter Park, which has a cross-country skiing venue, a sledding mountain, and an ice-skating pond. No matter when you visit Oneida County, you will have the pleasure of enjoying some of the most majestic scenery in the country. Rent a Tomahawk River riverfront property and nestle yourself in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
