Miner Lake Information

Miner Lake, Michigan: Small Lake, Big Memories Miner Lake in Allegan County, Michigan is small in scale, as is the surrounding Miner Lake lake house community. About two miles north of the city of Allegan, which is itself rather small, this lake community genuinely feels like a retreat from the daily routine. The benefit of a small population is unparalleled privacy, which you enjoy while maintaining all the benefits of lakeside living. The Miner Lake area is rich in natural beauty and local history, with lots to see and do. When you rent a Miner Lake lake house, you get to combine the advantages of a private, unspoiled rural location with opportunities to make big memories. Idyllic Views and Outdoor Adventures Miner Lake is known for the clear quality of its 325 acres of water. Though this lake is small, it is a big part of the lake house community. The sandy beach is welcoming to visitors who want to enjoy the sunshine or fish from the shore. A small boat ramp managed by the DNR (department of natural resources) is available to the public, as is a rest room. Game fish found in this lake include black crappie, bluegill, catfish, largemouth and rock bass, northern pike, pumpkinseed, and yellow perch. When you rent a lake house on Miner Lake, you get to enjoy not only use of the lake, but also the restful atmosphere it engenders and the idyllic landscapes it offers from the vantage points on your lake property. The gorgeous views are not limited to just the lake. Miner Lake lake house renters will be a short drive from the gorgeous scenery found in the Allegan State Game Area (also known as Allegan Forest). This forest stretches over 50,000 acres and offers a ton of opportunities for adventuring. Since the area is so large, it is easy to plan a day trip to fit exactly what you want to do. You can canoe down the Kalamazoo River, which flows through the park. There are three marked trails: the first is four miles, the second is three miles, and the third is five miles. These can all be connected into one large hike, if desired, and they are open during all seasons. In warmer months, you can explore the trails on foot or on horseback. The DNR suggests visiting during spring so that you can enjoy the flowering dogwood. In the autumn and winter, once the snow arrives, you can go snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, or even dog sledding. Hunting is also available in the park, and hunters will likely find geese and other waterfowl, pheasants, rabbits, woodcocks, ruffed grouse, squirrel, raccoons, wild turkeys, and deer. Historic Allegan and Grill Dining Not far from you Miner Lake lake house is the city of Allegan, with a population of just 5,000 residents. It is through this city that you reach Allegan Forest. Starting life as a water town, the city sprung up where a dam and sawmill were established. The Kalamazoo River flows through the town and was used for transportation. Because of its history with the water, there are beautiful views at many locations in the city, like the historical Waterfront Plaza. There are other historically significant landmarks like the historical district, which holds architecture dating back to the Civil War. Visiting these areas filled with classic American architecture is sure to put you in the right mood to visit the Allegan Antiques Market. This flea market is open on the last weekend of every month from April to October. A number of different vendors have their collections available for purchase, so there is sure to be something interesting there. After exploring the town’s history, stop by The Grill House to refuel. The Grill House is exactly what it sounds like; it is a steakhouse, but with a twist. In the Grill House, you’ll find a 30-person self-serve grill where you can show off your skills after choosing the perfect steak. If you need help, Grill Masters are available to recommend cooking times and seasonings. Take a steak home with you and practice your new skills at your Miner Lake lake house. Of course, you can sit down and have food served to you, as well. The Grill House has daily specials to keep you coming back for more. With a variety of activities that extend into all seasons, and beautiful views everywhere you go, the Miner Lake area is an excellent choice for your next vacation, reunion, event, or retreat. Rent a Miner Lake Lake house to make the most of what Michigan has to offer.
