Lake Loramie is a man-made lake located in Shelby County, near Minster, Ohio. It was created in the early 1900s for irrigation purposes but has since become a popular recreational area. Here are some key features and information about Lake Loramie:

Lake Loramie was one of the five lakes created to feed the Ohio Canal System. It is considered the most picturesque of the five feeder lakes. It has 426 land acres and 1655 water acres and 30 miles of shoreline. Lush vegetation and wildlife. The lake is relatively shallow but cruising lanes have been cleared of stumps. Approximately 35% of the water front is privately owned. The rest is state owned and is heavily wooded .
Most of the water front homes on the lake are situated on large lots and have been rebuilt or renovated. They have their own boat docks. The lake offers 181 camping sites, cabin rentals, boat rentals, bicycle rentals, hunting, hiking, picnic shelters, swimming beach, snowmobiling, sledding, ice skating ,ice fishing, cross country skiing, nature center, art gallery and a new pavilion. Motors of any horsepower are allowed and jet skiing. Water skiing is prohibited. The Lake provides crappie, bluegill. catfish, bullheads, carp and bass. There are special events at the state park from April thru October. Lake Loramie is located in a quiet, clean, farm oriented area of Shelby County in Western Ohio. Nearby Ft. Loramie and Minster residents are decedents of German heritage and celebrate with the annual Oktoberfest and German Heritage Days.
