Lake Malone Information

Set your sights on Kentucky’s Lake Malone if you’re searching for lake homes for sale in the region. Lake Malone stretches into Todd, Muhlenberg, and Logan counties, and showcases some of the most stunning natural scenery in the entire state. Enveloped by thick forests of pines, laurel, holly, and hardwood trees, the lake is both refreshingly secluded and accessible. This wilderness wonderland invites you to revel in its beauty while rejoicing in the bounty of recreation opportunities it hosts.

Lake Malone lies in the midst of Kentucky’s unspoiled wilds, graced by sheer cliff faces and dense woods. Its 826-acre pool is fed by the Rocky Creek, which was impounded in 1961, and the lake attracts area anglers with the promise of fun and fruitful fishing! Unlike many other lakes throughout the South, Lake Malone is home to a number of unique fish varieties. Not only will you hunt for bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass, and redear sunfish, but you’ll also encounter less known species like bullhead, green sunfish, warmouth, and spotted gar. And we mustn’t forget about the healthy populations of bowfin, spotted sucker, bluntnose minnow, and gizzard shad that are just as eager to bite. If you want your next trophy fish to truly be one of a kind, you’ll make a point to catch it in the teaming waters of Lake Malone! The fishing is certainly a treat, but that’s only a taste of the fun to be had on Lake Malone!

Twenty-six miles of largely uncultivated shoreline encircles the lake as a testament to Kentucky’s rich and varied topography. Limestone cliffs jut out between segments of vibrant foliage, tamed here and there by the presence of lakefront properties, water access points, and other recreation facilities. Lake homes for sale are conveniently situated near several local state parks and reserves. In particular, the Lake Malone State Park borders the northern edge of the lake and provides easy access to the water with a dock, pier, and boat ramp.

Hiking is a particularly favorite activity in these parts, as you'll never grow tired of exploring the lake’s striking surroundings. Lake Malone State Park’s 338 acres of land is intertwined with several trails for you to conquer. Nearby Pennyrile State Forest is known for its hunting grounds, and it welcomes you to pitch a tent and make yourself at home. You’ll also enjoy strolling across the grounds of area links like Canyon Run Resort and Dunmor Lakeside Golf Course, where your perfect swing is only overshadowed by the sweeping landscapes.
