Lake Morris
1,500,000 square foot lake formed by the Indian River. The river was first dam here in the year 1804 when General Morris formed a lake for settlement mills. "Scenic little impoundment sandwiched between two dams. Area recommended as a short day trip. Good bullhead fishing in back bay areas." (Quote from NYSDEC link below). Also good large mouth bass fishing near the eastern falls inlet and at middle elbow of the lake.
Deep clean waters with excellent fishing, swimming and small size boat use. Lots of municipal forest land along pristine shorelines on east side of waterway to give it both an Adirondack feel and Thousand Islands look. The waterways western side was both village waterfront homes and wooded shores.
