Campbellsville and Taylor County are located in the heart of Central Kentucky, nestled between the Cud Plateau amberlannd the Appalachian Mountains and offering the best of both regions. Taylor County was founded in 1848 and covers 270 square miles. More than 22,000 people live in the county, about half of those in the county seat of Campbellsville.
The area is home to a pleasant mix of agriculture, manufacturing and recreation. One of the area's greatest recreational attractions is Green River Lake, which offers some of the finest fishing and boating in the state. The Civil War Battle of Tebbs Bend was fought here in 1863 and several local historic sites reflect that time period.
Among the county's more unusual industries are the manufacture of church steeples and handmade cherry furniture. Its principal farm products include tobacco, corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. The town is home to the nationally recognized Campbellsville University and to Taylor County Hospital, which includes the only Level III Trauma Center in the state.
