Lake Eugenia/Eugenia Falls
| This lake is known for its "MONSTER BASS". The main attraction is the trout. There are two types specks and rainbows. There are also brown trout. There is a public dock. Eugenia Falls is a fairly well known waterfall. The waterfall is tall, but fairly narrow, as it does not usually discharge a large amount of water. The development of a nearby hydroelectric power plant diverts much water away from the falls. This water is used to develop approximately 4500 KW is generated from the 150 m head available at the site. This is apparently one of, if not the, highest heads available for power generation east of the Rockies. Only 10 minutes away is the Beaver Valley, with access to the Bruce Trail and scenic golf. Situated in the very tiny village of Eugenia, Eugenia Falls Conservation Area encompasses 23 hectares of Niagara Escarpment, river valley and upland forests. The site features hiking trails, a picnic pavilion, privies and a war memorial, as well as the 30 meter tall waterfall. |
