Owning our lake house for the past 17 years has been like living in a vacation home. The view from the front door out to the back wall of windows is of the lake, shimmering in the summer sun. When the moon is full, it's glow makes a path to our back deck.
I love sitting in the kitchen at the breakfast bar, checking the weather while drinking my morning cup of coffee. If the wind is from the north and the lake is gray, it's going to be cool, if from the south and the lake is blue, warm and breezy. Who needs the weather man when you live in a house of the lake?
From the days when we first moved in, running from the front door, shedding work clothes as we went, donning swimsuits and heading out to the dock and the boat, to now, when we don't run so fast, and our enjoyment of the lake is more from our deck high in the trees, we have loved this house. We will miss it, but it's time for a new family to love it and enjoy having their friends and family share the peace and beauty that only comes with owing a house on the lake.
